Dominican Debs do well in dance competition

Dominican Debs took home 14 trophies and two technique awards at the American All-Star Louisiana State Drill Team Championship held in Lafayette. They earned state wins in the following solos, duets, trios: Katelin Obletz, second place, Junior Solo division; Blaire Power, second place, Junior High; Katelin Obletz and Abby Mandella, fifth place, Eliza Miller and Kaitlyn Dawson, first place, duets; and the trio of Carlie Bujol, Claire Oster and Reiley Macicek took fourth place.

In Jazz, Pom, Game Day and Hip Hop, the Debs were first in Division 3 in all four categories. Overall in state, the Debs placed second in jazz. second in pom, first in game day and fourth in hip hop. The Debs also received technique awards for Hip Hop and Game Day routines.

The St. Mary’s Dominican High School dance team will compete at the Universal Dance Association Nationals Jan. 31-Feb. 2 at Disney World.
